Jon Hopkins

Are you interested in a career in International Relations? Are you looking to gain knowledge, skills, increase your network, and experience in international and regional policy areas and study with world-class experts renowned for their scholarship and practical experience? If your answer is yes, you should continue reading this message.

I’m writing from SAIS Europe in Bologna, Italy, Johns Hopkins’s European foothold. We are looking for bright and motivated students interested in international relations to join our class of 2019-2020. On this page, you can look at the programs we offer.

Each year, we welcome around 200 students from 40 countries who come from diverse educational, professional, and cultural backgrounds. Students study in an intimate and vibrant environment where they can foster their intellectual appetite. Our classes are small and have debate and discussion at their center.  Our professors are some of the leading scholars in their fields as well as leading practitioners who bring a wealth of experience to the classroom.

Imagine debating the future of the European Union with the Director-General for European Enlargement from 2006-2011; or discussing climate change policy with one of the lead authors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC); or learning about development with a panel member of the Accountability Mechanisms of the African and Asian Development Banks. This and a whole lot more is what you can expect at SAIS Europe.

We provide substantial financial support and encourage applications from candidates from all academic backgrounds. While our admissions process is merit-based and selective, we consider for admission anyone with a university degree and competency in English.
